What is Forest Therapy?

Forest therapy is a guided immersion in a forest or natural space to promote wellness and deepened connection to the natural world. It is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku (literally meaning bathing in the forest) in which participants spend time in forests to promote health and well being.

In Forest Therapy, people are guided through a sequence of invitations to slow down, become more aware of their senses, and to deepen their reciprocal relationship with the natural world. Walks cover short distances at a slow pace and are suited for all ages and physical conditions.

Invitations are open-ended and there is no expectation of how people should relate to the invitations or what they should experience. Forest therapy does not involve any one-to-one or group talk therapy.
